1933

Mr. Frans Vanheule starts the company as a one-man business. Initially, the cooperation was with a limited number of insurance companies: Royale Belge, Assurances Générales, Propriétaires Réunis and Phenix Belge.

1939

The PVBA FRANS VANHEULE & C ° is founded, where Maurice Van Spilbeeck – the brother-in-law of Mr. Vanheule – joined him.

1940

In the late 40s, the office moved to Schuttershofstraat, on the corner with Leopoldstraat. A little later the office moved to a larger location, always in the Schuttershofstraat, and a first employee joined the firm. Three other brokers settled in that office:

Each broker worked completely autonomously, but in complete solidarity and in a spirit of healthy cooperation.

Sixties

The office moves together with the three aforementioned brokers to the Huidevettersstraat 46 in Antwerp, above the shop of the company Toebosh (interior decoration). At that time there are two employees, Ms. Jeanne Gerharz and Mrs. Jeanine Ophoff. Initially, the portfolio consisted of private individuals up to the moment that some companies joined the customer base.

1969

Mr. Michel C. Vanheule, son of the founder, starts in the firm. In the beginning his job consisted mainly of getting to know the customers. The company continued to grow in terms of turnover, number of customers and employees.

1970

The firm needed more space, so it moved the office to the Lange Nieuwstraat 21-23 in Antwerp. The three fellow brokers moved again.

Seventies

Hertzinger’s portfolio was acquired. Broker Luyckx moves to a different location and broker Van Der Voort sells its portfolio to another broker.

1978

Mr. Michel C. Vanheule acquires the shares of the company from Mr. Frans Vanheule.

80s – 90s

The company grows further and now consists of a team of nine people.

2010

Mr. Michel F. Vanheule joins the firm after a career of almost 10 years with an insurance company. He is the grandson of the founder and eldest son of Michel C. Vanheule. He will lead the company further into the 21st century.

2013

Michel F. Vanheule acquires a majority interest in the company from his father and hereby confirms his confidence in the future. In November of this year the broker ASSURA is also acquired in full. This independent insurance broker also has a good reputation and has the same core values as those of the FRANS VANHEULE & C°.

2014

The company ASSURA and its employees moves to the Lange Nieuwstraat 21-23 in Antwerp.

2015

In October Christophe Vanheule joins the firm. He is the youngest son of Michel C. Vanheule and will initially concentrate on claims handling.

2018

Frans Vanheule & C ° and ASSURA merge in a new story as VANHEULE & CO. In a new look, but with the same years of experience, we are able to respond to the current and future challenges.
